Rat Terriers - Type A and Type B

Okay here is a long story about this "Wacky Wonderful Breed" The Rat Terrier. My Rat Terriers can only be registered in the UK, they both have UK pedigrees. The reason being is that all Rat Terriers are mixed breeds to begin with. Each is used in a different capacity for the work they perform in Europe, to this day. Max is the type A Rat Terrier, he is a Fox Terrier, Italian Greyhound mix. These are the sight hounds amongst the pack, perfect vision, and notice those oh so huge ears, the better to hear the mousies with! lol lol lol...and fast...OMG! amazing little tyke. When we had him in agility no dog could catch, or keep up with him. Very, very, intelligient!
Emily on the other hand is the type B Rat Terrier, better known as the "Teddy Roosevelt" Rat. A mix of are you ready.....lol lol Beagle and Fox Terrier. If you think Penny is a handful, try those two mixes. This type is used for scenting after the mousies. In Europe they utilize both types when they send them in to handle the rodents. One to scent them out, and the other to attack and pounce on the mousies. They are an unbeatable team. When Mr. Bunny comes in the yard, look out! In a matter of seconds Max has a mouth full of Bunny Tail...ouch! lol lol lol The squirrels run in fear when we let the two out. These are the smartest dogs I have ever owned, ever! lol lol lol It only takes seconds for them to send each other a message and react. They are both an inseperable team, "These two together are the SWAT team for Rodents"! lol lol lol..:)

Oh, they are adorable-- but they have that gleam of the killer in their eyes.

I wouldn't want to be a rodent with these two around that is for sure. They are rodent's worse nightmares. Our granddaughter had a pet ferret that she used to walk around with on her shoulder. The Ratties would look at each other and send signals with their eyes. You could just see them masterminding when the ferret hits the ground.......! :)
