New BABB Member: Frances Jean

We'll be conducting this interview via email. This is how the pros do it. So I hear. So, you're now officially a member of BABB. (For the official write up on BABB go HERE.)
You've always been BABB, we're just making it official.

Let's get to know you!

Okay. Soph. She's a riot and a good time enthusiast. The first question will be for her.
Soph, what do you think of your mom being a part of the BAMF Art Blog Bunch? How many times do you think I'll get dipped at the wedding?

Sophie: I am a good time enthusiast. I think you (myself) are so glad to be in it. I can't wait to put my art on the internet.
Sophie: Kasey will get dipped just one time. Me: Why just once? S: Because that's what the famous people do at their weddings. One time is all she needs.
Back to Fran.
We've been friends since the dawn of time aka Advanced Biology. What is one of your favorite times we were awesome?
Oh my. I think I could write a book about our adventures, but I'll try to narrow it down to the most hilarious ones. I love the times when we'd go cruising the loop downtown and you would be riding shotgun. We would pull up to a stop light next to someone and once they looked over to our car, you would hit the lever to make the seat lie all the way back and disappear. I would just die laughing. Of course we took turns riding dirty, but I loved it when I could see the people's dumbfounded faces.

Another good time was when we drove to Cedar Rapids with my brother. You drove the first part of the trip, I drove the rest. We searched CR looking for someone you knew, without any idea where he was going to be. It was a night of good samaritanism on our parts. We assisted two kids in a broken down car and let them use my cell phone. We spotted a runaway shoplifter and honked at him. My brother helped some people push their broken down car over a patch of grass into another parking lot of the motel where we were staying. (Editor's note: Was this the time I was so drunk I thought I should nap in a bush?)  It was a great time. Pretty much every time we do anything something memorable happens. For example, us saving the bicyclist the last time we were hanging out.

You do work for the Tallgrass Theater Company here in Des Moines. Could you tell us a bit about Tallgrass and what you do and why it's great.
I do volunteer at Tallgrass. It's awesome because two of my fellow pals, Jessie Wilson and Jim Stephenson, started it and it's totally a non-profit organization. Anyone can audition, or help with behind the scenes needs and they don't even have to have theater experience. Last year was my first year, and I learned how to costume and do some hair and makeup. They perform three plays a year from Fall to Spring, none during the summer. Another awesome thing about them is that they have an Iowa Playwrights Workshop that makes up one of the productions. Iowans submit scripts they have written and the best one is chosen, workshopped, and then preformed. The whole thing is made up of great people and is an amazing thing to be involved in.

How the heck do you have so much energy! You're an unstoppable force of good. Also, the other night I just read what you wrote in my yearbook.
Perfect. Let me type it up for you now.
"Kaser, I have not much to say. You're a BLAST to hang out with and we'll have a great time at Smashing Pumpkins tomorrow night. We both hate all of the same people and together we can destroy them. We have to hang out more often! Love ya, Frances Jean Moline" So there you have it. Awesome for over a decade straight. Not many people can say that.
Aww! I'm flattered. I don't know how much good I do, but I do try and be a good person. Soph gives me a lot of energy and the more things I'm doing the better I feel. I love that yearbook message and it sounds like something I would write to you even now. Crazy.

Is there anything else you want people to know about you? Your sign? Favorite food?
Let's see, I love music and dig going to shows. My friends and family are the most important things to me.
I'm a Capricorn that loves Corned Beef. That's about it.

YAY! So that's Fran. I love her and you will too!

That is the CORE of BABB: hating all the same people! Ooops, I didn't say that :)
With Fran, you get 2 for one. You get the 4 year old sidekick and budding artist, dancer, performer. BABB could NOT be more fortunate that you accepted Fran! People do wonder, though, if your last name has anything to do with teh Quad cities? You know, Bettendorf, Moline (golly, what are the other 2...Rock Island and davenport or something like that)

Yay! My friend LB &I have the same bond of hating the same people. It's what's kept us close all these years- sharing the rage. Welcome, Fran!

Gary, that's right Quad Cities, but unfortunately, I don't have any claim to Moline. I wish I did though, and I am impressed that you know the four of them. That's better than most people. Thank you, Kerry! Glad to be part of this crazy awesome club!
