India's life in music clips

So India never heard commercial radio until she was in elementary school. Her early life she spent surrounded by musicians and artists af all ilk. She developed her own musical preferences starting in utero. Her earliest influences were the Pogues, the Dead Kennedy's, the Proclaimers, Garcia and Grisman, and of course, the Grateful Dead. In her early formative years three songs come to mind first,
The Proclaimers, 500 miles
the second most popular toddlerhood song was Monkey and the Engineer

 and last but certainly not least was this Grisman and Garcia version of Jenny Jenkins



When she was five, she was exposed to CAKE, by a crew of film guys her dad was working with.. Thus entered the obsession with this little gem

Some content sooooo not five year old friendly, but what could I do???? She spent a great deal of time dancing in the rain to the Dead, and Little Feat so I guess it all balances out!
 
She had/has a great love for a band called Vetch, she has been listening to them forever. Its kind of in her blood, These would be some of the musicians that she has grown up around. She has been at live recordings of thier CD's and danced in the pub to thier tunes since she was old enough to dance! Clips on you tube are hard to find!!!but on a side note... Matte and Cora just had a baby!!!!!(Cora=singer, guitarist Matte... man on the horn..)
also a big musical influence on her life were these guys, A pretty hip bunch of guys that I have known forever This is Hot Toddy Thom Swift, Tom Easley and Joel LeBanc with Carlos on drums,I forget Carlos last name.oops he is not a regular member of the band.
 

She went to school and then was exposed to pop culture oddness, and toyed briefly with Hilary Duff fandom, but it was a thankfully short obsession which was very quickly converted to this fine young Canadian Lady
 

I liked this phase much better than the Hillary Duff phase.

When she was in grade two she made best friends with Ava. Ava's dad is a professional musician, who got his  start in this band Eric's Trip. they were a pretty awesome band I must say. They still get together and play once in a while, the Basist Julie Doiron has gone on to a pretty fine solo career. India was exposed to a ton of way cool music at that house. Both parents worked at Backstreet Records, and there was coolness all around. Sadly, Ava lost her mom this week to Cancer. : (

At about grade three the little miss developed a passion for this band: This passion was highly influenced and supported by me. She still loves them. her fave song in the world is during her elementary years she explored a lot of music, some of it stuck, and some didn't. She was encouraged in this by my friend Jack, he and his wife never had kids, but they kind of liked mine and made them unofficial grand kids. Jack is a music junkie. He worked in music promotion and was in rock bands when he was a young man. He is cleverly disguised as a Government suit these days, but you can't take the music out of the man. He and India became "Beatles Buddies" He was always burning CD's for her. One of her fave songs by the Beatles is

Her middle school years have been an interesting mix so far. the likes of Leonard Cohen,
