Checkmate

Here is my newest creation in pottery. It's a set of bottles each one representing one of the chess pieces. I am going to enter this in a contest, so I am obviously hopeing to win. It took me two months from start to finish to complete!
The tray they are standing in represents the arena of life itself, each one a player in the power game.
KING-The highest status of power, phallic in nature, dominion over all others. To me he is symbolic of a desire for complete control over all others.
QUEEN-Slightly below the Kind, her stopper is a ripe lotus bud. She symbolises, fertility, sensuality, and draws her powers from the King.

ROOK-This is the stronghold for the powers within. It symbol is, immovable, intimidation.
BISHOP-This is the symbol of powers in the Spiritual way. Control is through Morals, Fear, and Contemplative.
THE KNIGHT-I used a ferocious, and aggressive horse head. Sometimes blinded in his desire to please the powers above him. None the less, he is forcing his way out of the bottle to jump to the challenge.
THE PAWN- Beneath all others, and considered disposable, and utilitarian.
The bottles range in size from 10 1/2 inches tall to 5 1/2 inches tall, respectively. The tray is 12 1/2 inches in diameter.
