Cliff Jumping

My wife and I are going through a transition.  Our youngest child just graduated from High School, and will be off to college in the fall.  We're in the process of learning how to be a couple again.  It's exciting and sad at the same time.  We both will miss our children terribly, but it's also cool that we can travel much cheaper now.  (Try buying 5 airline tickets instead of 2)  Next month we hope to travel with Gary and Maude to NYC for a day in the city.

My son had to work today.  Judy and I were alone.  It's the hottest day of the year, and she asks if I'd like to go to a park.  I say sure, let's try a new park.  So off we head to 6 mile creek.

Begin Wayback machine story.  Several years ago when our oldest child was very young we were at a playground watching her play.  My Grandmother was with us, and she was in her mid 70's.  She went over and grabbed the rings with her hands, and was going to swing on them.  She immediate fell to the ground.  She was fine, but a little embarrased. End Wayback machine story.

At the end of our hike on 6 mile creek we watched as young people jumped off the cliffs into the water.  Being a BAMF member, I thought, I could do that.  It would be a lot of fun.  Fortunately for me there is no way to get up to the reservoir from the trail that we were on.  I just continued hiking with my wife, and we continued to build our relationship as a couple.  On the way back to the car, I recalled the story of my grandmother, and the rings.  I think sometimes when we get older we forget our age, and think we still have teenage bodies.

I hear ya Stevo, a few years back, I won a Kayak in a draw, My oldest child was terrified that I would die if I Kayaked, it was a deathtrap, and he would not have a mommy anymore. I sold that Kayak to a friend, my son was happy. He wasn't afraid he would be motherless anymore.
That was three years ago, I have spent the past week, watching that very same child Kayak, on our river. In a borrowed Kayak.EVERY DAY. Now, hmm, was I bound to drown cause I am old???
I am curious as to how his mind switched to him being perfectly fine in a kayak, while I was doomed if I stepped foot in one.lol....

I love your story about your grandmother. Mine threw her back out on a boogie-board in the waves at the shore years ago. Hopefully that daredevil gene is inherited-- I think it keeps you young- at least at heart!

lol lol We hear ya about forgetting one's age..George and I also at times try to do things we did when we were young. I was an avid horsewoman, ballerina, never any fear. Now...OMG what if one of us breaks a hip? lol lol lol..Just tripping over the dogs is enough adrenaline rush for us! :) Love to watch and appreciate others though!
